Last week, we designed characters and began our game design journey. This week, we will focus on level design. Below you will find useful videos as well as a block chart in case you missed class. Here are some design considerations:
  1. Do the decorations I use for my blocks look good together?
  2. Is the level too hard, too easy, or too confusing?
  3. Will the user know where to go?
  4. How long or big will the level be.
  5. Will I need to create characters for the story, or are they available in the asset packs?

Over the next 5 Mondays, you will form your own game design company and compete to win the coveted award of "Featured Game of the Month" on the home page of our media website. Because of the traffic on my website, your game will likely get played by many students in the school. You (and your team) will also receive a 3D printed golden pickaxe as a trophy. Here is a basic overview:

Day #1: Get accounts, explore, create first animated characters. Learn about game design roles! Play in the arcade to see quality games.

Day #2: Come with set teams. Learn about level design, block types, and changing enemies and power ups. Go over game design roles.

Day#3: Learn about Art, backgrounds, and optional advanced features: keys, doors, and mid backgrounds.

Day #4: This will be a work day for design and play testing.

Day #5: Work and playtesting.

Day #6: Game Jam! Play our classmate's games and winners announced!
